Illegallery

Street shows. In my urban projects I try to find alternative ways for art to dialogue with the viewer, extending the buondaries of public space, for the benefit of creating an aesthetic experience that's offered free to all.

Project 15
Canned tears
In case of tears shortage you can always use canned tears. Canning provides a shelf life typically ranging from one to five years, although under specific circumstances it can be much longer: A freeze-dried canned product, could even last as long as 30 years.
Project 14
Nerve cell
Urban environment as the human body

Project 13
Family tree
The pursuit of family history and origins comes from a sense of responsibility to preserve the past for future generations but family tree can be sometimes very heavy to carry.

Project 12
Po be'Eretz
When a painting turns into animation..

Project 11
Urban legend
A story that tend to have the feel of something that might be likely, and is told in such a way to particular audiences that it's passed down time and again as "truth".
Project 10
Misan-Tropic
It might be me, the misanthrope street artist working alone in this jungle and feeds on himself.

Project 9
Wildlife
Those are five of the most common wild animals in Israel. Just 40 minutes drive or less from the city, you can spot them under the rocks, behind bushes, near water or in the desert.
I was so sad to read that also these animals are now in a danger of extinction. Nature is disappearing from our life. In a few years from now, you will be able to see the lovely creatures - stuffed, numbered and displayed only in museums.
Project 8
Fence Fence Fence Fence
I say "enough with metal fences". Not only that the entire city will be covered behind those ugly fences, it's bad for street art.
Project 7
Reasons to stay inside
Why do we stay? is it fear, denial, or something else that makes us stay put?
Small scale works in a claustrophobic dirty little booth.
A Doll's House
THE SLAMMING of the door by Nora, in Henrik Ibsen's play A Doll's House, was heard throughout the world in 1879 and its vibrations are still felt today.
Project 6
Dry bones
Modern interpretation of The vision of the dry bones by Ezekiel.
In a series of murals, scattered parts of skeletons around the city are rising and forming new life.
Project 5
They  were all there
Portrait show. Same unreal faces from imaginary family dinner way back.
Project 4
The Unsaid
The concealment of suppressed emotions and vulnerability is a major theme in my work. In my drawings I often show figurative elements, but I don’t aim to illustrate reality. Instead I try to expose feelings from restrained and hidden places.
Project 3
The Wayfarer
The wayfarer's journey to the known and the unknown.
It was only after I finished the sketch for the Wayfarer, that a an old tune came to my head.
It was a poem by Nathan Alterman. I could never describe the theme better:
Berry Sakharof - Still returns the tune
Still returns the tune
you've abandoned in vain
and the road still opens forward …
...and as the flight of swings
the lightning will pass above you,
a sheep and a doe will be witnesses
that you've caressed them and kept walking.
Project 2
Join the dots
It's all about following instructions..
Join the dots is a form of puzzle containing a sequence of numbered dots. When a line is drawn connecting the dots the outline of an object is revealed.
But here, the numbers are partly shown, my line is not behaving straight and the result is just not as expected.
I challange you to join the dots on the other side.
Project 1
Art is no excuse
Smashing a traditional oil on canvas painting - that once was actually exhibited in a gallery at a single show of mine - as an act of killing what we consider 'Art' - in order to form another object that we consider 'Art'... Aesthetic paradox.
